Rasaamrita - the nectarine essence

Rasaamrita - the nectarine essence, captures that quintessential flavour in moment of stillness. The Rasa experienced by the artist and the audience transcends this world of name and form; finally leads to liberation. Based on the Taittriya Upanishad - an Ancient Sancrit text that describes that ultimate state of bliss. A fresh & intimate blend of Odissi, colour and movement will be performed by the students and teachers of The Temple of Fine Arts at Annalskhmi Restaurant, June 24 2006. For bookings call 08 9221 3003.

Australian Premiere: Vishwa Vinayaka

"Every moment was exciting...combining classical with contemporary was second to none"
-  Singaporean audience member

On the 7th of April 2006 at the Burswood Theatre, The Temple of Fine Arts in conjunction with our late patron, Swami Shantanand Saraswathi's birthday celebrations, presents its magnum opus, Vishwa Vinayaka to the Perth audience.

An exquisite melánge of contemporary and classical Indian styles, this work explores the mythological magnificence of, the ubiquitous elephant-headed God, Ganesha.

Augmented by synchronised projections, the performance exudes the colourful vivacity of the Indian cultural tapestry, enthralling the audience with every choreographed step and every rhythmic sway.

Skip the feast and await the banquet, for more information please visit www.vishwa-vinayaka.com.au

World Premiere: Kaustubha

Complementing Vishwa Vinayaka in the second half of the evening is the world premiere of Kaustubha, an exhilarating duet between the acclaimed maestro of violin Dr L Subramaniam and the Kathak (traditional dance form of North India) legend Pandit Birju Maharaj.

The collaboration has been choreographed as a special tribute for the 25th birthday of the Temple of Fine Arts and is a unique combination of North Indian dance with South Indian music.  This ‘edge of your seat’ spectacular should not be missed.
